DCLM Higher Everyday 7 November 2026 — With Jesus, Storms Lose Their Power

DCLM Higher Everyday  7 November 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — With Jesus, Storms Lose Their Power

Topic: With Jesus, Storms Lose Their Power

Bible Reading: Mark 4:35-41 (KJV)

35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

KEY VERSE: “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39).

Message

Storms are a part of life’s journey. They symbolise the challenges and difficulties we encounter, especially as Christian youths. These challenges manifest as internal struggles (such as anxiety and depression), chaos, uncertainty, and overwhelming circumstances like financial difficulties and health crises.

According to Max Lucado in his book, Anxious for Nothing, When Jesus is in the boat, the storm may rage, but the boat will not sink. This offers a vital lesson for modern Christian youths: amid life’s hardships, we can find peace and calmness in Jesus’ presence. He is the anchor that keeps us steady, the rock that provides shelter, and the refuge that keeps us safe. Someone once said, “Storms are conveyors that move believers in Christ to the other side, because Jesus ordered the disciples to go there.” Peace and strength in Jesus lift us above storms. Life’s storms fade away in the presence of Jesus. Come to Him now and experience the indescribable joy of a personal relationship with Him. You will smile at the storms with Jesus in the vessel.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Help me to find peace and strength in You, O Lord.

CHALLENGE

Don’t be afraid of turbulent storms.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
