DCLM Sincere Milk 11 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Table in the wilderness
TOPIC: TABLE IN THE WILDERNESS
TEXT: MARK 8:4-8
5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
Key Verse: “And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?” (Mark 8:4).
MESSAGE:
Showing concern about a particular difficult situation or need is not always due to lack of faith, but most times, it is the expression of the true condition of things around us. It is knowing how bad our condition is that will make us to develop faith in the only God who can help us.
The disciples were concerned about how to get enough food to feed multitudes of people in the wilderness. But they did not realize that the Lord can furnish a table even in the wilderness. That means the Lord can provide for our needs no matter how odd the condition around us may be.
Jesus knew that the disciples were concerned that there was not enough food. Therefore, He did the miracle to increase their faith in Him. The few loaves and two fishes were multiplied to feed the multitudes.

Let the Lord increase your little faith, little love, little kindness, little grace, little mercy, and through these, bless you and make you a channel of blessing to the multitude around you.
Today, show a little concern for the condition of those around you, be kind and caring to other people. Be merciful like your Saviour. Tell the story of His love to those who come your way. He is the only one that can satisfy their souls and give them lasting peace.
Prayer: Lord, supply all my needs and use me to meet the needs of others.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
