DCLM Sincere Milk 10 August 2023 — A Merry Heart
DCLM Sincere Milk 10 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Merry Heart
Topic: A Merry Heart
Text: Proverbs 17:17-24
17A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
19He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
23A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
24Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
Key Verse:“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
Message
Sandra was so happy when she returned from school one faithful day and found a bundle of clothes and shoes her mom bought for her. Though unexpected, she quickly rushed to the mom and embraced her and was grateful for the gifts. For the rest of the week, Sandra could not contain her joy as she told all her friends what the mom bought for her.
A cheerful heart does good like medicine because it heals every wound and solves many problems. Learn to always be cheerful; do not let the challenges of life or in your family weigh you down; always know that God is in control and will surely deliver you. Also try to make others happy. Be like Sandra’s mom who made her daughter happy with the gifts she bought. There are people around you that need help, they need food and clothes, try to be of help to them and put a smile on their faces and your reward will be great in heaven.

Prayer for today: God, direct me to put a smile on someone’s face today.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
