DCLM Higher Everyday 21 October 2022 — Abundant Blessings

DCLM Higher Everyday 21 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Abundant Blessings

TOPIC: ABUNDANT BLESSINGS

TEXT: EPHESIANS 1:1-14

1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

2Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

10That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (EPHESIANS 1:3).

MESSAGE:

We need to glorify God by praising Him for giving us all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. At creation, God gave man the material world – both biotic and non-biotic. Man had dominion over them all. However, man lost all this and the glory of God when he fell and lost paradise. But Jesus came to restore all things.

Our text today tells us that the redeemed are freely given all spiritual blessings which include:

(i) Salvation from sin.

(ii) Redemption through Christ’s blood.

(iii) Sanctification – perfect holiness.

(iv) The Holy Spirit – providing illumination and revealing to us the mysteries of God’s will.

(v) Riches of God’s grace with Spirit comfort leading to everlasting joy.

(vi) Adoption into God’s Kingdom and obtaining an eternal inheritance, being made joint heirs with Christ.

(vii) Unconditional love in Christ for God and fellow men.

Many youths want spiritual blessings, but they are unwilling to pay the price for them. Truly, spiritual blessings are like low hanging fruits on the tree, freely given by God to seekers. However, no sinner can obtain them without accepting Christ first.

QUOTE: Jesus came to restore all things.

CHALLENGE: God’s blessings are for the holy and obedient.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to live worthy of enjoying the spiritual blessings.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
