DCLM Higher Everyday 30 October 2022 — Arise! Shine!
DCLM Higher Everyday 30 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Arise! Shine!
TOPIC: ARISE! SHINE!
TEXT: ISAIAH 60:1-5
1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
4Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
MEMORY VERSE: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (ISAIAH 60:1).
MESSAGE:
“Men can starve from a lack of self-realization as much as they can from a lack of bread,” said Richard Wright. This quote remains valid and universally applicable across the human race.
Indeed, true self-realization means recognizing that you are far away from God as a sinner, repenting of your sin, and acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. All other concepts of self-realization are deceptive and destructive, particularly those that deny our dependence on God and promote self-reliance.

Our Bible text of today constitutes a divine call on two classes of people: one, all sinners to awake and realise that Jesus Christ has paid the price for their redemption from sin and Satan; and two, all redeemed persons to awake from ignorance and claim the bountiful spiritual and secular benefits of that redemption.
These benefits include freedom from Satanic oppression, sinful habits, fear, worry and anxiety, and entanglement with occultism and failure in endeavours. If any of these problems has brought you down, my friend, do not remain despondent, arise and shine! Victory is sure in Jesus’ name.
QUOTE: Do not remain despondent, arise and shine!
CHALLENGE: Would you not awake out of your slumber and answer this divine call today?
PRAYER: Father, awaken my soul and enable me to recover all my inheritance in Christ.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
