DCLM Sincere Milk 6 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Be A Friend Who Lifts Others
Topic: Be A Friend Who Lifts Others
Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15 (KJV)
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
KEY VERSE: “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Message
Lifting or encouraging others is one of the simplest ways we can show God’s love. Sometimes people feel discouraged, and a kind word can lift their spirits. As believers, we are called to build each other up, reminding each other of God’s promises, especially when things get tough.
Joshua had a friend named Sam, the boy was very brilliant, loved schooling but couldn’t go on with his education because his family was too poor. Sam said, “I can’t go to school, we don’t have enough money.” Joshua saw how sad Sam was and said, “Don’t give up, Sam. You’re smart, and God has a plan for you!” Joshua encouraged Sam every day, helping him with schoolwork, sharing lunch, and praying with him. With Joshua’s support, Sam stayed in school and learned that God would always help him, no matter the challenge.
We can be like Joshua, cheering others, lifting them up and reminding them of God’s love and faithfulness. Great blessings await children who are vessels of encouragement and lifting for those in need.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, use me to encourage and lift up others.

Galatians 6:9-10
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
