DCLM Sincere Milk  24 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Blessing for the Obedient

Topic: Blessing for the Obedient

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 17:5-8 (KJV)

5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

KEY VERSE: “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.” Jeremiah 17:7

Message

Our God is a righteous and just God. He blesses the obedient and punishes the disobedient. Blessing or punishment comes as a result of everyone’s activities. Your actions determine what you receive. Our Bible passage divides the children of Israel, and everybody on earth, into two groups. The group of the “cursed” – these are people who cheat the weak, put their trust in others and make God less important in their lives. They look up to men for help and also feel they have ability and all the money to get all it takes to make themselves happy without God.

In thoughts, words and actions they neither fear nor honour God. They are like stunted plants which grow on dry ground without water and nutrients. They have no hope for a better future in Heaven. That is the group that is cursed. However, those who trust in and have hope in the Lord, who fear God and do what is right before Him shall be as a tree planted by the waters, whose leaves are always green and does not worry about drought, but always yield fruits of righteousness and good works.

Choose to fear the Lord and love Him with all your heart. Make your ways right before Him. Then the Lord will bless you and make your life fruitful all the days of your life.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to do those things that are pleasing to You so that You will bless me always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
