DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 22 June 2022 — Bought with the blood
DCLM Higher Everyday 22 June 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Bought with the blood
TOPIC: BOUGHT WITH THE BLOOD
TEXT: 1 PETER 1:17-21
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
MEMORY VERSE: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 PETER 1:18-19).
MESSAGE:
On the importance of atonement, Robert Lowry asks rhetorically:
“What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
With the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, sin entered the world. With sin came jealousy, hatred and fight for supremacy. Many nations, like Israel, were conquered and under the tyrannical rule of the Roman Empire. Israel needed someone to set them free from their oppressors.
Therefore, when Christ came, the Jews expected Him to be their political Messiah, little knowing that the autocratic rule of sin and the slavery of the devil were far worse than the tyranny any natural ruler could inflict on them.
Jesus came to set humanity free from Satan, sin, death and hell. National independence is not enough. People are in spiritual slavery to sin and Satan, and none can deliver him/herself. However, Jesus has come to redeem mankind. With His blood, He purchased us, paying the full ransom. Beloved, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
QUOTE: With His blood, He purchased us.
CHALLENGE: How precious is Christ’s blood to you?
PRAYER: Lord, help me not to yield to sin.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
