TOPIC: CALL TO WRITE FOR CHRIST
TEXT: REVELATION 1:9-19
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
MEMORY VERSE: “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter” (REVELATION 1:19).
MESSAGE:
Pilar Arsenec gave three main reasons why Christian writers write. According to the writer, we write because we are called. Two, we write as an act of service, and we also write to glorify Jesus our Lord. Closely related to this is the need to reach out with the gospel to the dying world.
John the beloved was abandoned on the island of Patmos to die. There, the Lord Jesus revealed Himself to him and gave him a revelatory and eschatological message to pen down for the seven churches in Asia then, and by extension to the whole Church today.
Jesus still needs writers. He wants all His literate and gifted children to put His message in black and white for sinners as well as for the saints to read. They can write soul-saving and inspiring tracts, books and articles in newspapers.
Also, mobile phones with internet facilities can be used to send gospel messages to people through the social media. Every labour in the Lord’s vineyard attracts handsome rewards.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, inspire me to write for You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
