TOPIC: “BUSY HERE AND THERE”

TEXT: 1 KINGS 20:39, 40

39And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.

40And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.

Key Verse: “And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it” (1 Kings 20:40).

MESSAGE:

The world is becoming a difficult place to live and serve God well. Efforts to make a living in the midst of numerous challenges in the world has made people to engage in too many activities to the extent of abandoning God and His word. People no longer pay attention to the things of God.

Children are not left out of these influences. Some are too busy doing one thing or the other. But if you carefully examine most of the things you do, you will discover that they are worthless and unprofitable.

The world has created many activities to take the heart and attention of children away from the Almighty God. Such activities include worldly games, sport, after school lesson, comedy, social media, and other attractions. Many children prefer to forsake fellowship with God and His people for those activities.

Modern inventions are good, to the extent that we use them for our academic success; we should never allow them hinder our relationship and duty to God. We should not be like the man in our Bible passage, he allowed the person entrusted into his care to slip away while he was busy here and there.

As believers, our salvation is more precious than anything else in the world. The work of winning souls that Jesus gave to us is equally important. While pursuing our good desire to be great in life through education or other means, the things of God should not be set aside.

Prayer: Lord, help me not to be too busy with the things of this world and forget You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
