TOPIC: Called To Be God’s Sons (DCLM Daily Manna 17 July 2022)

TEXT: 1 John 3:1-3 (KJV)

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

KEY VERSE: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not” (1 John 3:1).

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

The fact that we are called to be the sons of God is heartwarming for the Christian. This privilege behoves us therefore to make our calling and election into this sonship very sure (2 Peter 1:10).

Apostle John reminds us that this privileged position brings us at loggerheads with the Satan-controlled world which does not recognise God and therefore knows us not. “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” This indeed is a sobering fact that should make us comport ourselves with the highest level of decorum as Christ’s disciples in a hostile world.

This call of God upon us attracts innumerable blessings upon believers like the children of Israel that were chosen by God, fed and protected throughout their pilgrimage from Egypt to Canaan. The salvation of our soul, healing and health for our body and victory over sin, self and Satan are part of the continual benefits we enjoy as the sons of God. The hope to be like Him eternally is also included in the list of privileges open to us. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him…” (1 John 3:2).

To continue to enjoy the privileges of our calling as the sons and daughters of God, we must abide in Christ and live like He did, as the beloved Apostle John has enjoined us this day.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Christ’s love for us can never fail.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Exodus 1-4

Prayer Points:

  1. Give praises to God if you are a child of God or ask for the Spirit of sonship to enter into you if you are not one yet.
  2. Ask for power to be living out the life of Christ without any blame or corruption.
  3. Ask God for knowledge and understanding of your sonship and faith to be utilising the privileges.
  4. Lord, help all your children to always carry themselves by faith as children of God.

HYMN: Ye must be born again.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
