TOPIC: FORSAKE THE FOOLISH

TEXT: PSALM 14:1-4

1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

MEMORY VERSE: “Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding” (PROVERBS 9:6).

MESSAGE:

The foolish can be described as a person who lives in emptiness; empty in his life and utterances. He or she lives sinfully, carelessly and gracelessly; and does not know the law of cause and effect. He lives without God. The wise must forsake the foolish and follow after righteousness if they want to live a satisfactory life. Today’s Bible text firmly declares a fool as a person that says there is no God. He forgets and denies the One that created him, gives him grace to be alive and freely puts the natural resources at his disposal.

In many schools today, there are the foolish who belong to cults and make sinful friendships, committing various acts of sin and thinking that there is no final judgement and hell fire. Youths who befriend them eventually become like them. Children of God must not allow them to deceive and derail them from the narrow way. Rather, they should help them out of their foolishness by preaching Christ to them. Let us by all means save some.

QUOTE: Help them out of their foolishness.

CHALLENGE: Do not allow the foolish to draw you from the way of understanding.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from the foolish.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
