TOPIC: CALVARY LOVE

TEXT: JOHN 3:14-17

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

MEMORY VERSE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (JOHN 3:16).

MESSAGE:

What comes to your mind when you think about the word: love? According to Rick Warren, “Love leaves a legacy. How you treated other people, not your wealth or accomplishments, is the most enduring impact you can leave on earth.”

The world has much to say about love; from the print media to the electronic media, we have different definitions and display of love. Most of them reflect sinful emotions. However, love is more than emotions.

The greatest love story of all time is contained in the lines of our memory verse. God’s love for you and me was made manifest in the life and death of Jesus Christ.

It beats one’s imagination that Christ could leave all the glory and splendour of heaven, humble Himself to be born of a woman and live physically in the flesh like you and I just to fulfill one purpose: redemption of mankind.

It is surely unthinkable that anyone would reject Christ’s love. If you are a sinner, His arms are wide open to receive you today.

QUOTE: His arms are wide open to receive.

CHALLENGE: It is almost unthinkable that anyone would reject Christ’s love.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, keep me from despising Your love, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
