DCLM DAILY MANNA 19 APRIL 2021 – OUR GOD IS IN CONTROL

TOPIC: Our God Is In Control (DCLM Daily Manna 19 April 2021)

TEXT: Psalm 119:65-72

65 TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

KEY VERSE: “Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.” – (Psalm 119:65)

MESSAGE:

Charles Spurgeon once wrote of an evening when he was riding home after a heavy day’s work. He felt weary and depressed, when this verse flashed suddenly, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” He said, “I should think it is, Lord,” and he burst out laughing. It seemed to make unbelief so absurd. It was as if some little fish, being very thirsty, was troubled about drinking the river dry, and the river says, ‘Drink away, little fish, my stream is sufficient for thee.’ Or, it seemed like a little mouse in the granaries of Egypt after seven years of plenty, fearing it might die of famine, and Joseph might say, ‘Cheer up, little mouse, my granaries are sufficient for thee.’ For the child of God who has His word, there is no cause for alarm.

Blessed indeed is the man or woman who makes God his or her confidence. The psalmist accepts the love of God and rests in the confidence that He is in control of every aspect of his life. He asks God for teaching because he believes in His judgment. He sees afflictions as God’s means of correcting him, not to harm or destroy his life.

This conviction of God’s goodness is deep in the heart of the psalmist such that neither the lies nor the prosperity of the wicked would move him to deny the love of God. Bitter experiences and situations make many to turn against the gospel. But for us, it should be an opportunity to affirm our confidence in the Lord.

Beside the psalmist, Joseph, the four Hebrew youths and even Ruth chose to trust God in difficult times instead of blaming Him for their misfortunes. As you go about your activities today, remember that the Lord is good and He will deal well with you in spite of your challenging situations. Just trust Him and all will be well!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Faith is taking God at His word.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
