DCLM DAILY MANNA 24 AUGUST 2021 — IGNORANCE BEGETS ERROR

TOPIC: Ignorance Begets Error (DCLM Daily Manna 24 August 2021)

TEXT: Mark 12:18-27

18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

KEY VERSE: “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?” – (Mark 12:24)

MESSAGE:

A certain woman went to a man of God for deliverance. She had been hearing strange voices. The woman had been praying to God to speak to her in an audible voice and Satan took advantage of the situation. When the man of God, through the word of knowledge, asked her why she could not be delivered having gone earlier to two notable evangelists, the woman admitted that she did not really want the spirits to leave. “And what of now?” The man of God asked. She insisted she loved it so. That is willing ignorance.

The Sadducees did not believe in resurrection nor in the existence of angels, yet they came to tempt the Lord with a fabricated story about levirate marriage and resurrection. Their story stated that a man that had six brothers married a wife and died childless. The others subsequently took her to wife without having any issue also. They wanted to know who among the seven would have her as wife “in the resurrection”. The Lord as usual through His answer exposed their ignorance and explained that at resurrection people do not marry, but would be as angels of God. He further explained that God is not the God of the dead but of the living.

Ignorance is a major setback to men all over the world today. While some are genuinely ignorant, there are others who “willing are ignorant” (2 Peter 3:5). They know the truth but decide to remain in their errors. Ignorance leads to error, error leads to the wrong direction and destiny. So it is the duty of all who have been called to be “a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness” (Romans 2:19), to stir up themselves to lead men out of ignorance and darkness into the glorious liberty of the gospel of Christ. Every true believer must be involved in this wonderful assignment.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Seek the truth and abide in it.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
