DCLM DAILY MANNA 29 APRIL 2021 – OUR IDENTITY AS CHRISTIANS

TOPIC: Our Identity As Christians (DCLM Daily Manna 29 April 2021)

TEXT: Leviticus 15:19-33

19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.

20 And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.

21 And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

22 And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

23 And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even.

24 And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.

25 And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean.

26 Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation.

27 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

28 But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.

29 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

30 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.

31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.

32 This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith;

33 And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean.

KEY VERSE: “This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith; And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean.” – (Leviticus 15:32,33)

MESSAGE:

God has not called us to uncleanliness but unto holiness. Without any atom of doubt, there is a very close link between holiness and cleanliness. God abhors uncleanliness as much as he does all forms of sin. It is often said that cleanliness is next to godliness.

Our text focuses on God’s concern over the physical health and well-being of His people. While the people of ancient times did not know much about hygiene, sanitation nor the prevention of infectious diseases, God’s laws encouraged them to treat their lives the same way they regarded their holy God.

The Lord wants us to be clean not only outwardly, but also to be mindful of our internal cleanliness. Washing our body is the physical response that make for outward cleanliness. But spiritual cleansing is our response to the divine call to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

All the commandments that God gave concerning the unclean was for Israel’s separation from the nations around them. These nations were idolatrous and did not obey the laws of God. Thus, they were separated from Israel as God’s people and nation.

Today, obedience to God’s laws and commandments separates us from the unbelievers who consider His commandments too hard, strict or impossible. We cannot flout God’s commandments and still claim to be His children. Obedience to them is for our spiritual and physical benefits.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Compliance with God’s laws identifies us as true disciples of Christ.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
