DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2021 — Eternal Life for Enoch

DCLM Higher Everyday 23 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Eternal Life for Enoch

TOPIC: ETERNAL LIFE FOR ENOCH

TEXT: GENESIS 5:21-24

21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

MEMORY VERSE: “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him” (GENESIS 5:24).

MESSAGE:

In the Bible, Enoch distinguished himself as one of the only two remarkable descendants of Adam in human history (the other being Prophet Elijah) who did not die but were taken away by God to heaven alive. As a prophet and preacher of righteousness, Enoch, for 300 years, constantly walked faithfully with God – reason he was so special to his Creator (Genesis 5:22-24).

The Scripture reveals that in the wicked period before the flood, most men did not walk faithfully with God. Rather, they walked their own way, the crooked way of sin. Interestingly, Enoch did not keep silent about the sin around him but he prophesied about God’s judgment of the defiant and ungodly (Jude 1:14, 15).

There are life lessons from Enoch’s steadfastness in serving the Lord. For as long as you live, strive to be a loyal follower and enjoy a close fellowship with God. Always tell the truth despite any opposition and ridicule, while being obedient and trustworthy.

By faithfully walking with God and trusting Christ as Saviour, the Lord promises that you may die physically, but you will be resurrected to eternal life at the end of the age.

QUOTE: Strive to be a loyal follower.

CHALLENGE: Strive to enjoy a close fellowship with God.

PRAYER: Great Jehovah, make me Your trustworthy follower.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
