TOPIC: KIND AFFECTION

TEXT: ROMANS 12:9-15

9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Key Verse: “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another” (Romans 12:10).

MESSAGE:

The word ‘affection’ means love, friendliness and warmth.Love is a major ingredient needed in every true fellowship. What makes a Christian fellowship different from other gatherings like clubs, societies and associations, is the kind of affection shown, and the motive of their love.

For example, people in all these other gatherings give to others and also expect to receive back in return. Their love is not perfect. Whenever you do good because of what you will get in return, your motive is wrong. That is not Christ-like love.

In the body of Christ and in our families, God expects us to be kind to one another. We are expected to have deep feelings and concern for others.

Be gentle with your younger siblings, be concerned about other people’s challenges, be respectful, be patient with those who are slow, pray for others, give to meet the needs of the poor, be given to hospitality, bless them that persecute you and pray for sinners to repent.

Rejoice with them that rejoice and be concerned about others in trouble. Don’t be selfish, be kind to everyone that comes your way.

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to demonstrate Christ-like love to others.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
