DCLM Sincere Milk 23 NOVEMBER 2021 — Jesus’ Royal Family
TOPIC: JESUS’ ROYAL FAMILY
TEXT: 1 PETER 2:4-9
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Key Verse: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
MESSAGE:
Members of the royal family in some countries have access to certain privileges that other people do not have. However, they are expected to be well behaved in the society.
They are to be respectable, and modest in dressing (not exposing their bodies), and learn social etiquette that governs the way they eat, sit, walk and associate with the public. In fact, two heirs (successor to the throne) are not normally allowed to travel together by air, in order to preserve the line to the throne in case an accident occurs.
Friends of Jesus belong to the heavenly royal family. We have great privileges in this world and even beyond this earth in the kingdom of God. As princes and princesses, you will reign with Jesus.
You are special and different, and as such, there are things you must not do. You must not speak dirty words and jokes. Also, you must not watch dirty films and programmes. You are not expected to copy bad and worldly hair styles and wear clothes that show your nakedness.
Girls must remember not to expose their bodies when they sit down. There are places you must not be found or go to. Above all, friends of Jesus must be holy and not be dirty in the thoughts of their hearts and actions.
To be a part of Jesus’ royal family, a sinful child must turn away from sin, be sorry about his/her sinful ways and ask Jesus to come into his or her heart. Do it now!
Prayer: Father, please help me to always do all that You want me to do, so as to remain a member of Jesus’ royal family.
Further Reading: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
