DCLM Higher Everyday 7 December 2023 — Faith In The Name Of Jesus

DCLM Higher Everyday  7 December 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Faith In The Name Of Jesus

Topic: Faith In The Name Of Jesus

Text: Acts 3:11-16

11And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

12And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

13The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

14But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

16And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Key Verse: “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all” (Acts 3:16).

Message

“What’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” This famous line used by William Shakespeare in his play, Romeo and Juliet, implies that names are irrelevant. What matters most is the intrinsic quality of an individual. One may bear a good name and be a bad person. Our names were chosen by others, especially, our parents before our real characters were known. To a great extent, Shakespeare was right.

However, in the case of Jesus Christ, the story is different. The name of Jesus was chosen even before He was born. And His name is symbolic. It is a name that signifies His office, His ministry and His authority. There is power in His name. Through the name of Jesus, prayers are answered, sicknesses and diseases are healed, demons are cast out, problems are solved, and victory over sin, fears and failures are received. One day, at the mention of that name, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. Faith in the name of Jesus is the password you need for your miracles. Believe!

Quote: There is power in the name of Jesus

Prayer for today: Oh, for grace to trust Jesus more.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
