TOPIC: Do Not Delay.

Text — John 9:4-5

4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Key Verse: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4

Message

Procrastination is another word for the delay. It means to put off doing something that should be done until a later time, because you do not want to do it or because of laziness and playfulness. Jossy was very good at playing musical instruments. She was the best the three times she represented her school in a music competition. Over time, she began to procrastinate and no longer take rehearsals seriously. Sadly, she did not do well when she represented her school for the fourth time.

From the key verse, we learned that Jesus Christ, our perfect example, did what was to be done without delay. Do you do your house chores on time? Do you delay doing your assignment and wait till you are reminded? Have you repented of your sin or you are still living in disobedience? Do not delay any longer. Now is the time, today is the day of salvation. Delay in buying enough oil at the right time could be the reason why the five foolish virgins were not prepared and were unable to go in with the bridegroom. Delay in doing the right things is dangerous.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, please help me to stop procrastinating but do things I am meant to do at the right time.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
