DCLM Sincere Milk 15 October 2022 — Do not lie

DCLM Sincere Milk 15 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Do not lie

TOPIC: DO NOT LIE

TEXT: ISAIAH 63:7-11

7I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

8For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

Key Verse: “For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour” (Isaiah 63:8).

MESSAGE:

It was the prize-giving day at Soaring High College. Parents of outstanding students were given special seats in the front of the school’s auditorium, to sit next to their children. But one girl stood out among the graduands.

Everybody’s gaze were fixed on Gloria Monsa who won four of the six prizes, including the headteacher’s prize for the most honest student of the year. The father was proud of her, and beaming with smiles, was going from person to person introducing Gloria as his child.

In our Bible passage, God was happy and proud of Israel. He testified that they were people who do right and that He was their Saviour. Today, choose to make Jesus happy by your righteous life.

Always tell the truth no matter what pain it will bring to you. Make Jesus proud of you as you overcome every temptation to do wrong in school, at home and everywhere you go.

Prayer: My lips shall not lie. Lord, give me the grace to always behave in a way that will make You proud of me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
