TOPIC: Embrace Corrections [Open Heaven for Teens 9 February 2022]

MEMORISE: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:12

READ: Proverbs 3:11-12

  1. My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
  2. For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 25:31-46 , Leviticus 7-9

MESSAGE:

Today, many young people are not interested in being corrected because they think that they have a right to their own beliefs, lifestyle and perception of the world. If you are one of them, you have to change because this mentality will hinder you from making progress in certain areas of life, particularly in your walk with God, whereas God wants you to grow into becoming like Him as written in #2Corinthians 3:18:

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

God loves you so much and He’s very particular about your growth and transformation which will only happen through your willingness to change. A child of God who does not accept correction and change positively has already made a choice to be destroyed. You will not be destroyed in Jesus name. Therefore, when you make a mistake and God or anyone corrects you, admit your fault immediately and make amends, so that all can be well with you.

KEY POINT:

Please accept corrections because doing so is for your own good.

HYMN: I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford.

CHORUS
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.

  1. I need Thee every hour,
    Stay Thou nearby;
    Temptations lose their power
    When Thou art nigh.
  2. I need Thee every hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain.
  3. I need Thee every hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfil.
  4. I need Thee every hour,
    Most Holy one;
    Oh, make me Thine indeed,
    Thou blessed Son!

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
