TOPIC: ENTIRE SANCTIFICATION

TEXT: JOHN 17:14-19

14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

MEMORY VERSE: “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (JOHN 17:17).

MESSAGE:

In his book, Key To Church Revival, Dr. Yonngi Cho said, “Without sanctification and righteousness, your whole Christian faith loses its foundation.”

This is true because many believers who downplay the sanctification experience do not get far in their walk with the Lord before they fall through the ‘lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.’

Sanctification is God’s work of grace that enables His people that experience it to live a life of victory over sin. It makes us dead to sin in a sinful world. We can turn down sinful offers and opportunities to sin even when we are alone if we are sanctified.

Many youths struggle with secret sin because their hearts are not sanctified. No one can enjoy freedom from sin unless they are sanctified. The Lord Jesus took time to pray for the disciples’ sanctification in our text. My friend, do you still struggle with sin? If your answer is yes, then, you must pray to be sanctified and enjoy inner peace.

QUOTE: It makes us dead to sin in a sinful world.

CHALLENGE: Sanctification experience gives you freedom from sin.

PRAYER: Oh God, sanctify my heart entirely in Jesus’ Name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
