Topic: Evangelize Through Friendship

Text: John 1:41-45

40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

43The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

44Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Key Verse: “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, we have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph” (John 1:45).

Message

In the 1950s, a Christian businessman picked up a hitchhiker named Bob. Bob grew up in the slums of Chicago. He had been in constant trouble with the law. He was shivering with cold when he got into the car, but soon warmed up and started telling the story of his life to this friendly stranger who talked about God and Jesus. As the businessman listened to Bob, he became convinced that he needed to do something to help him. He gave Bob a place to live. The wife of the public-school superintendent thought Bob to read. The businessman’s father got him a job.

In time, Bob became a believer; he preached to his former friends and won them for Christ. Their lives were transformed spiritually, morally and materially. This all began when one man and a few other Christians became friends with Bob. Friendship evangelism is simply reaching people for Christ through friendship. It is a very effective way of getting the good news to those who would normally refuse the gospel. Be kind to your friends and lead them to Christ.

Quote: Lead them to Christ

Challenge: Be kind to your Neighbours.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to win my Neighbours to Christ.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
