DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 24 September 2022 — Family daily fellowship
DCLM Higher Everyday 24 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Family daily fellowship
TOPIC: FAMILY DAILY FELLOWSHIP
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 6:6-8
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
MEMORY VERSE: “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (DEUTERONOMY 6:7).
MESSAGE:
Roy B. Zuck narrates an interesting story: The English poet, Samuel Coleridge, had spoken with a man who insisted that children should not be given any religious instruction at all. “The child’s mind should not be prejudiced but he should be left to decide his religious opinions for himself when he grows older.”

Later, Coleridge invited the man into his garden, where only weeds were growing. The man looked at Coleridge in surprise, and said, “Why, this is not a garden! There is nothing but weeds here!” “Well, you see,” answered Coleridge, “I did not wish to infringe upon the liberty of the garden in any way, I was just giving the garden a chance to express itself and to choose its own production.”
A heart not tended with prayer and God’s word soon grows weeds of sin. If God has blessed you with a family where prayer and scripture intake is a daily thing, cherish it. If not, seek out a godly spiritual mentor and learn. That way, you keep the weeds of moral corruption off the garden of your heart.
QUOTE: Seek out a godly spiritual mentor.
CHALLENGE: Do you value or despise your spiritual tutor?
PRAYER: Lord, preserve my family in your truth. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
