DCLM Higher Everyday 7 October 2022 — Feeding our fellowmen
DCLM Higher Everyday 7 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Feeding our fellowmen
TOPIC: FEEDING OUR FELLOWMEN
TEXT: MATTHEW 25:31-40
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
MEMORY VERSE: “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in” (MATTHEW 25:35).
MESSAGE:
A popular adage says, “All hands are not equal.” So is the economic situation of everyone. While some people may have more than enough of daily needs such as food, others can scarcely get a meal a day. The needy must therefore be helped by those who can.
On this, John Wesley said:
“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the time you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”

Feeding our fellowmen is part of our service to Christ. What God has given us is not personal but to be shared in common with those around us. The Bible says, “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor” (Proverbs 22:9).
Feed those who are hungry. Beloved, also feed the lost with the bread of life.
QUOTE: Others can scarcely get a meal.
CHALLENGE: We always have this mind of not having enough to give.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to feed the hungry.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
