Bible Reading: Psalm 103:1-5 (KJV)

1(A Psalm of David.) Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

KEY VERSE: “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;” Psalm 103:3

Bible Reading:

A list always starts with number one (1.) In most cases, the first is the most important. For example, in examination result the first position is given to the child that scores the highest mark. The first always opens the list for other items to follow. As shown in our Bible passage, the first opens the door for all other benefits to come through. The blessings of God seem to be arranged in a divine, logical order in the lives of God’s children. We do not have to rush for the second if we have not yet received the first. Sins (iniquities) block our way to receiving God’s many benefits or blessings.

Sin must first be removed out of our lives if we want to have God’s blessings. For, “if I regard (allow) iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” – and bless me. (Psalm 66:18)In our Bible passage, the first benefit stated there is“forgiveness of sin” It is after you have received this first benefit, by turning away from your bad ways, saying sorry to God and making Jesus your Saviour and friend, that you are qualified to enjoy the other benefits like healing, deliverance, love and mercy of God, provision and long life. If you desire God’s blessings in your life, do the first thing first: repent and turn away from your sins and the needed blessings will come into your life.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, I am sorry for every bad thing I have done. Forgive my sins, be merciful to me and bless me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
