DCLM Higher Everyday 24 May 2023 — The Guiding Voice Of God

DCLM Higher Everyday 24 May 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Guiding Voice Of God

Topic: The Guiding Voice Of God

Text: Isaiah 30:18-21

18And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

19For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

20And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Key Verse: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left”(Isaiah 30:21).

Message

Pa S. G. Elton, an English man, was sent to Nigeria by the Apostolic Church headquarters at Penygroes, Wales, after a prophecy from one of the church leaders during a meeting saying, “Send my servant Elton to Nigeria.” It is believed that the Holy Spirit specifically mentioned Ilesha. In obedience to God, he and his wife and only three year old daughter, Ruth, set out for Nigeria, arriving Lagos on March 11, 1937. He settled in Ilesha from where he carried out his ministry to Churches, individuals, university campuses and Pentecostal fellowships in many parts of Nigeria. He was a great positive influence on many Pentecostal ministers in Nigeria. He died in 1987, after over 50 years of meritorious service to God and humanity, and was buried in Ilesha.

Just like the story above, youths who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour have the privilege of divine guidance. God instructs and guides through His Word, inner witness of the Holy Spirit, restriction, dreams, prophecies and visions. By these, He sets believers on the right path.

Quote: God instructs and guides

Challenge: Take your confusion to God for clarity.

Prayer for today: Oh God, let me hear you always in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
