DCLM Higher Everyday  10 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — From Little To Large

Topic: From Little To Large

Bible Reading: Matthew 13:31-32 (KJV)

31Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

MEMORY VERSE: “Which indeed is the least of all seed: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof” (Matthew 13:32).

Message

Someone said, “Big things often have small beginnings.” Look at the big Church organisation where you worship today, it must have started in a small place with few members. Also, Amazon has become a household name today. However, Jeff Bezos built that empire initially as an online bookstore from his garage with desks made from doors to save cost. But he had a vision of an “everything store” and aimed to create a platform for various things at good prices.

In the same way, you have the potential to be what God destined you to be. It is imperative, however, that like the tiny seed of mustard, you need to recognise and value the tiny talents, abilities, and gifts inherent in you. Nurture the seed with the help of the Word of God; pray and seek counsel from godly mentors, and with determination, your vision of greatness will be realised. You would need courage to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges in your way to greatness, be it in your academic or career pursuit. Your growth is inevitable.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to appreciate the value of little things.

CHALLENGE

Do you have the “I Can” spirit?

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
