DCLM Sincere Milk  12 January 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Give Your Heart To The Lord

Topic: Give Your Heart To The Lord

Text: Proverbs 23:22-26

22Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

23Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

24The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

25Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

26My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Key Verse: “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” Proverbs 23:26

Message

The heart is one of the most vital organs of a living thing. The sickness of the heart is very deadly. When the heart is so sick and there is no hope of recovery, the doctor recommends a transplant. This is a medical process of giving another heart to the sick person.

Since the disobedience of Adam and Eve, every person is now born with a heart that is sick with sin. Every human heart has malfunctioned spiritually. No one’s heart works the way God wants. Sin makes our heart sick. Jesus is calling you to give your sick heart to Him for healing. Nobody does that for the other. Everyone at a time, must be willing to give his or her heart to Jesus. Jesus specializes in remaking hearts; and He does that at a time. Just as it is not right to tell a doctor a lie about your health, you must first tell Jesus, in prayer, all the bad things you have done that have made your heart dirty and sick. You must stop doing what is bad and give your heart to Jesus. He will forgive, heal your sick heart and bless you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
