DCLM Sincere Milk 26 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God requires faithfulness

TOPIC: GOD REQUIRES FAITHFULNESS

TEXT: DANIEL 6:1-4

1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

2And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Key Verse: “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him” (Daniel 6:4).

MESSAGE:
Today, the church and the world are looking for people who have “an excellent spirit” to do exploits in this generation. Daniel was such a man in his generation. Intellectual knowledge alone cannot achieve much. There must be a combination of intellectual knowledge with spiritual gifts to achieve extraordinary things in any generation.

As children of God, you must do well in your education and also be strong spiritually to excel. In addition, you need scriptural qualities to keep functioning at the level which God expects of you. Some of these qualities are:

Faithfulness – Being loyal and dependable in times of trials of your faith in God.

Fear of God – This is the type of fear that keeps away from sin and honours God.

Fearlessness – This is the absence of the fear of man. Fear of man weakens one to stand for God.

Forbearance – There must be longsuffering to achieve the best in life.

Forgiveness – This is necessary to make progress in life.

Fruitfulness – The Lord expects us to be fruitful in every good work.

Use these attributes as a daily check list.

Prayer: Lord, give me power to function in my service and work for You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
