7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Key Verse: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power; and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Message

Fear is a major limitation to exploits. Many youngsters nurture the fear of acceptance, unknown future, failure, and death. William Shakespeare wrote, “Our doubts are traitors. And make us lose the good we might win. By fearing to attempt.” Yes, fear hinders one from attempting goals in life. It is said that fear is, ‘False Evidence Appearing Real.’ It attacks our inspiration and saps our strength. Fear is Satan’s strategy for keeping us back from enjoying all benefits provided for mankind through Christ’s redemption. To gain mastery over fear is to live an optimum life.

It is noteworthy that salvation is the gateway to overcoming fear and all its attendant evils. Jesus gives us power over fear. The gift of God comes with supernatural boldness that tames fear. According to our text, God gives us the spirit of love, power and of a sound mind. There is no room for the spirit of fear. The early Church were, unafraid and unashamed. The only way to receive boldness is to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.

Quote: Jesus gives us power over fear

Challenge: Do not allow fear in your life.

Prayer for today: Dear Lord, empower me with a sound mind to live for you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
