DCLM Higher Everyday 5 October 2022 — Grateful to teachers

DCLM Higher Everyday 5 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Grateful to teachers

TOPIC: GRATEFUL TO TEACHERS

TEXT: ISAIAH 30:18-21

18And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

19For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

20And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

MEMORY VERSE: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (ISAIAH 30:21).

MESSAGE:

Lydia Stocks said this about her teacher, “Mrs. Wheless was an extraordinary teacher! As a fourth grader, she saw in me potentials that no one else had. She challenged and encouraged me to rise to and exceed the expectations put on me academically. Eventually, I’d recognized this as a primary reason to become a teacher myself!”

As we celebrate World Teachers Day today, we should remember the impact of teachers on individuals and national life. Teachers impart knowledge, skills, abilities, etc., to students. They build character and values; mold lives, discover skills and talents; and nurture them for the benefit of students and the nation. Respect and appreciate your teachers because their roles are important for your life.

Above all, you must listen to our Lord Jesus Christ, the greatest Teacher. He teaches the way to eternal life. He can be your teacher when you repent of sins. As you obey Him, you shall hear His voice, saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

QUOTE: Respect and appreciate your teachers.

CHALLENGE: Listen to Christ, the greatest Teacher.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to appreciate my teachers.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
