DCLM Higher Everyday 19 October 2022 — Grow in Grace
DCLM Higher Everyday 19 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Grow in Grace
TOPIC: GROW IN GRACE
TEXT: 2 PETER 3:14-18
15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE: “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 PETER 3:18).
MESSAGE:
The life of a Christian is a growth process. He is at first a little child after conversion; matures into a young man, and then a father in Christ (1 John 2:12-14). Each stage of growth produces increase in Christlike virtues and is a product of the measure of grace one receives.
Grace is the unmerited favour bestowed on man by the sovereign God. So, to “grow in grace” is to increase in faith, love, obedience, humility, giving and other godly virtues. There should also be continual growth in the knowledge of Jesus Christ for one to remain steadfast in the faith.

Having been born again and come into the kingdom of God, it is expected that you grow from being a babe who desires milk for growth to becoming an adult who desires strong meat.
Jesus Christ is the grace of God to the unbeliever. A meaningful growth can only start when one receives Jesus Christ into one’s life by confessing all sins, forsaking them and accepting Him as Lord and Saviour.
QUOTE: It is expected that you grow.
CHALLENGE: Are you growing in grace?
PRAYER: Oh Lord, I refuse to be stagnant. Help me to grow.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
