TOPIC: HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 28:12-15

12The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

14And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath” (DEUTERONOMY 28:13A).

MESSAGE:

In his book, You Can Win, Shiv Khera stated that, “If a person has the desire to accomplish something, the direction to know his objective, the dedication to stay focused, and the discipline required to put in the hard work, the other things come easy.”

Yes, with these and God’s abundant grace, excellence in education, progress in career, and soaring in Church work, will all come easily. For us to enjoy the promises in our Bible text, we must fulfill our part which is daily meditation on God’s word and doing it. This is because good success is a compensation for meditation on and doing God’s word (Joshua 1:8).

Dear friend, stop fantasizing and wake up to the reality of hard work. Discard the lies of the devil and decide to break limits because you were not made for a life of mediocrity or failure. No matter how many times you have failed, do not give up! God has deposited in you enough resources for success. If you belong to Jesus, surely you are the head and not the tail.

QUOTE: Decide to break limits.

CHALLENGE: Obedience to God’s word is key to success in life.

PRAYER: Dear God, grant me the grace to obey your word always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
