TOPIC: USE WHAT YOU HAVE

TEXT: EXODUS 4:1-5

1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

2And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

3And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

4And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

5That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

Key Verse: “And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod” (Exodus 4:2).

MESSAGE

While taking care of the flock of his father-in-law, Moses had a dramatic and supernatural encounter with God. This encounter set Moses on the path of real purpose in life. But before Moses finally agreed to undertake the divine mission to return to Egypt to deliver and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt, God had to perform some miraculous signs to convince Moses and strengthen his faith in Him (God).

The first of the miraculous signs was the turning of Moses’ shepherd rod to a snake when he cast it on the ground before God. Before this time, the rod was a mere, insignificant piece of dry wood, with which Moses tended his father-in-law’s flock.

However, after Moses had willingly surrendered his rod to God, it ceased to be an ordinary rod or staff. The rod now represented God’s power and authority in his hand. Moses was able to use it to do great exploits, signs and wonders in Egypt and in the wilderness.

What skill, talent and ability do you possess? It could be drawing/art work, writing, speaking/communication, teaching, sharing, repairing faulty gadgets or damaged items, creating useful things out of wastes, etc.

All you need do is to first surrender your life to Jesus, as you repent and accept Him as your personal Saviour and Lord. Then pray that God will help you to identify your talent, surrender such to God and He will bless you and make you to blossom so as to fulfil His purpose for your life.

Prayer: Lord, I yield my life and my talent for Your use.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
