TOPIC: HIS LOVE BROUGHT LIFE
TEXT: JOHN 3:13-17
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
MEMORY VERSE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (JOHN 3:16).
MESSAGE:
On the first anniversary of their wedding, Raj Kundra, a famous British businessman, gifted his wife, Shipa Shetty, an apartment on the 19th floor at the Burg Khalifa. This expensive gift made headlines in various newspapers and gained media attention around the world. It was regarded as the most expensive gift in history, according to the Guinness World Book of Records.
Gifts allow us to convey our love, appreciation and gratitude to our loved ones. The depth of the love may be measured by the value of the gift.
Raj Kundra’s love for his bride cannot be equated with God’s love, which was expressed by the most expensive gift on record – His only begotten Son, Jesus. The love of God, according to A. W. Tozer, is the hardest of all His attributes to speak about. It defies description of preachers and prophets; it transcends illustrations by psalmists and poets. It is incomprehensible and unfathomable.
Jesus Christ abolished death and brought life and immortality into the limelight through the gospel. “Whosoever believes in him should not perish.” Do you believe this?
QUOTE: Jesus Christ abolished death.
CHALLENGE: The love of God is incomprehensible.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to be a beneficiary of Your love.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
