DCLM Sincere Milk 20 April 2026 — House On The Rock
DCLM Sincere Milk 20 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — House On The Rock
Topic: House On The Rock
Bible Reading: Luke 6:46-49 (KJV)
46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
MEMORY VERSE: “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: …”Luke 6:48a
Message
The parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builders is part of the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount. In this parable we were told of two men, each with identical elements who are builders and their intention is to build a house. Each chooses a different area to construct his own house. We should remember that Jesus is not talking about building physical houses on rock and sand, but about building our lives and ensuring that we have a strong foundation in Him.
The wise builder will construct his life in a way that no amount of testing, no extent of difficulty will be enough to bring him down. This is because he was founded upon a rock! and on nothing less! If you are only hearing and reading the word of God and are not acting upon it, you are not prepared for life’s storms. Both the foolish and the wise builders hear, but the foolish builder did nothing about it.
You should not be like the foolish builder who does nothing after receiving the warning of Christ. You are to take steps to repent and build your life on Christ the solid Rock. This is the only step that guarantees safety and victory over the storms of life
PRAYER FOR TODAY
I pray for grace to be a wise builder and not be foolish.
FURTHER READING
James 1:22-25
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
