TOPIC: HUNGER IS GOOD

TEXT: Matthew 5:5-8

5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Memory Verse: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

MESSAGE:

Hunger is the desire for food or some other things. Hunger is good but parents become worried when children do not want to eat for a very long time. Lack of appetite for food could be a signal that a child is sick.

However, hunger for physical food is not enough, because it cannot satisfy our spiritual needs.

As humans, we are meant to have both hunger for physical food and also for God and His righteousness. The truth is that, it is only God that can satisfy our spiritual hunger, because physical bread can only satisfy physical hunger. In Luke 4:4 Jesus said “….. It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” God’s promise is that, those who desire righteousness would be satisfied and blessed with righteousness and other blessings.

Are you not tired of bad behaviours?
Don’t you want to be made righteous? Have a strong desire for it, believe God for it, ask God in prayer and that experience of purity will be yours in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:
Dear Father, please give me hunger for You and Your righteousness above everything, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
