TOPIC: THE HOLY TRINITY

TEXT: 1 JOHN 5:6-9

6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

MEMORY VERSE: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one” (1 JOHN 5:7).

MESSAGE:

John of Kronstadt states, “As the Holy Trinity, our God is One Being, although Three Persons, so, likewise, we ourselves must be one. As our God is indivisible, we also must be indivisible, as though we were one man, one mind, one will, one heart, one goodness, without the smallest admixture of malice – in a word, one pure love, as God is love.” All genuine Christians believe in one living and true God who is the Creator of heaven and earth; who is eternal, Almighty, unchangeable, infinitely powerful, just and holy, and exists in Three Persons.

Christians generally unite in proclaiming that God eternally exists as Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Those who deny that truth place themselves outside the rank of Christian belief in that mystery. We believe in the Trinity for at least three reasons: The Bible teaches this doctrine; Christians everywhere have always believed it; and no other explanation makes sense. As someone has put it, “If you try to explain the Trinity, you will lose your mind. But if you deny it, you will lose your soul.”

QUOTE: The Bible teaches this doctrine.

CHALLENGE: Do you believe in the Holy Trinity?

PRAYER: Lord, implant the Trinity doctrine in my heart.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
