TOPIC: IF THY PRESENCE GO NOT WITH ME

TEXT: EXODUS 33:12-17

12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

Key Verse: “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence” (Exodus 33:15).

MESSAGE:

In our Bible passage, Moses shows a good understanding of who God is. He knew all that God did to deliver the children of Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, particularly from their wicked king, Pharaoh.

God did not only deliver Israel from Egypt, He also promised them a good land, flowing with milk and honey. They had to take a journey through the wilderness to inherit the promised land. To do that, they must allow God to lead, while they follow; otherwise, they would miss the way.

The believer is on a journey, travelling through the wilderness of this world to the promised land – heaven. You have not passed through this way before; you need the guidance of the Architect and Designer of the world, and that is God.

Therefore, you must let God guide you in all that you do – your desires, your goals, your plans, your thoughts and actions must be directed by God. How can you achieve this when you cannot see God physically? It is very simple, God has given us His word which is the Bible. All you need to know and do to make your life on earth successful is contained in the Bible.

To guide the children of Israel, God gave them the law through Moses. Obedience to these laws was the condition for enjoying God’s presence and guidance to the promised land.

Therefore, you must take delight in God’s word. Read it every day. Meditate on its precepts, give attention to all the promises, believe the word and obey it. God’s presence will abide with you always.

Prayer: Lord, help me to live in obedience to Your word so as to enjoy Your presence always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
