DCLM Sincere Milk 29 May 2025 — In An Oven?
DCLM Sincere Milk 29 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — In An Oven?
Topic: In An Oven?
Text: Matthew 13:24-28
24Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Key Verse: “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” Matthew 13:25
Message
Mr. Joe has a bakery in the neighbourhood where he makes bread and other pastries. Once the oven is turned on everybody moves away because it gets so hot and will easily burn off anything and hurts people if precautions are not taken. Mr. Joe announced 3 days break to mark the close of the year’s activities. As they returned from the holiday, they discovered swam of ants in their ovens. “What? In an oven” shouted one of the staff. He forgot that the oven can only hurt when it is hot. Once it is cold it is like any other surface that ants can walk through.

Are you a Christian who does not read the Bible? Are you a Christian who doesn’t pray and praise? Are you a Christian who will never attend fellowship, pay tithe and offering nor preach the gospel to others? A Christian is not someone who bears John or Mary, but someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus through repentance. A Christian is that child who daily builds up himself in the place of prayer, Bible reading, evangelism etc. Without this fortification, you are like the cold oven that can’t hurt an ant. Awake from your slumber and take your place.

Prayer for today: Dear father, take away all coldness and laziness towards the things of God away from me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
