Topic: Keeping Safe In The Virtual World

Bible Reading: Proverbs 1:8-10 (KJV)

8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

MEMORY VERSE: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not” (Proverbs 1:10).

Message

An anonymous writer said, “The internet is a wild place, and you never know who’s lurking in the shadows.” Our topic today presupposes that there are possibilities of running into danger while surfing the internet or using the social media. Indeed, the virtual world offers vast opportunities for learning, communication, and entertainment. However, it also presents dangers such as cyberbullying, online scams, and ungodly influences. Proverbs 1:8-10 urges us to heed godly wisdom and reject sinful enticements. Just as we take precautions in the physical world, we must also safeguard ourselves spiritually and morally online.

To stay safe, we must apply biblical wisdom by being mindful of the content we consume, the people we interact with, and the information we share. God calls us to be discerning, avoiding anything that can corrupt our minds and lead us astray. Staying accountable and seeking guidance from parents, mentors, and God’s Word will help us navigate the virtual world wisely.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, grant me discernment to stay safe in the virtual world.

CHALLENGE

Let God’s Word shape your values.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
