DCLM Sincere Milk 9 November 2022 — Life: a gift from God

DCLM Sincere Milk 9 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Life: a gift from God

TOPIC: LIFE: A GIFT FROM GOD

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:12-20

12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

14And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Key Verse: “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).

MESSAGE:

Richard was given a beautiful and very expensive shirt by his uncle. Two weeks after, his uncle was surprised to see the shirt being used to mop the floor. His uncle was unhappy about how Richard treated the gift he gave him, and did not give him the new shoes he just bought for him.

Your life is a gift from God. It is to be used well and lived the way God wants it. A life of disobedience, lying, stealing, fighting and so on, “smells” and “stinks” before God. For your life to please God, you must repent, turn away from all sins and live a life of obedience.

You were created by God and He has a way He wants you to live. The Bible provides a guide on how to live a life to please God. Read the Bible every day, think on what you read, obey it and live by it.

The example of the life of Paul the Apostle, Ruth, Esther, David and many more people in the Bible confirms that it pays to live one’s life the way God wants it. Decide today to live your life to please God and you will be forever happy you did.

Prayer: Dear God, I want to live in obedience to Your word and live a life that pleases You. Please, help me Lord in Jesus’ Name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
