Topic: Look Back And Remember

Text: Deuteronomy 16: 9- 12

9Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn.

10And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

11And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

12And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

Key Verse: “And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.” Deuteronomy 16:12

Message

Miracle was born with a chronic heart condition. Her parents usually reminded her of how the medical team that handled her case almost gave up on her; she was actually declared dead, but through God’s miraculous touch, she came back to life. She stayed in the hospital for about three months after her birth for close medical observation and monitoring. Her parents named her Miracle because of her miraculous survival. Anytime the family looked back, they always remembered what God had done for them. This always made them to offer praises and thanksgiving to Him.

Our Bible passage was a kind of reminder to the children of Israel to always remember and also appreciate God for delivering them from bondage in Egypt. They were charged to make the celebration of their redemption from slavery in Egypt an annual event (feast).
In the same manner, our salvation from sin cost God His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross at Calvary for our redemption. We should always pause to look at the cost of our redemption and the love of God for us and be thankful to Him. We should stay away from anything that can take away our salvation and live righteously everyday of our lives.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, please, help me to always remember and appreciate You for laying down Your life for my sin.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
