DCLM Sincere Milk 11 September 2022 — More about giving

DCLM Sincere Milk 11 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — More about giving

TOPIC: MORE ABOUT GIVING

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 9:5-11

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

Key Verse: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6).

MESSAGE:

A little boy gave his lunch to Jesus; Jesus blessed it and fed thousands of people. He was blessed and his good giving is known from generation to generation. A student used his talent to work for God though his examinations were near, God rewarded him by making him to excel in all he did because he studied hard at the same time.

For your giving to be accepted and pleasing to God, you must give with all your heart; and give cheerfully, not grudgingly and unwillingly. In giving, you first give your heart to Jesus to wash it clean from all sinful actions with His blood.

You give your talents, using your skills in drawing and painting to beautify the house of God, your voice to sing praises to God and inspire others to love Jesus, and also to intercede for others.

Your intellect to teach and develop others in their academic work. Your feet to go on evangelism and visitation. Your money in paying tithes, for mission and church project and helping those who are in need.

Obedience to cheerful giving brings abundant blessings. An adage says, “Givers never lack.” There is also a prophetic saying thus: “No lack, no loss, no limitation.” There will be no lack in your life. Therefore, start giving cheerfully from now on.

Prayer: Lord, give me grace to give cheerfully to always enjoy Your abundant blessings in my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
