TOPIC: OBEDIENCE: A SECRET OF SUCCESS
TEXT: GENESIS 22:9-18
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
MEMORY VERSE: “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice” (GENESIS 22:18).
MESSAGE:
Somebody wrote, “Everyone is searching for the secret to success. There are thousands of books and theories on how to achieve success, what success looks like, and how to be successful in succeeding. But God’s way to success is much different from any of the ways you will read about in those books. God wraps up the definition in one word: OBEDIENCE.”
Obedience to God is the surest route to true success. That was why Abraham succeeded as seen in our Bible text. He understood that God has solution to every problem. Though the instruction to sacrifice his only son was hard, Abraham promptly obeyed God. Obedience makes success easy and outstanding. God is still looking for obedient people to bless today. You can be one of them.
Decide to be God’s friend and separate yourself from sin and sinners. Then, you must have a vision to pursue. Pray about it and you may become one of the most successful inventors, manufacturers, service providers and global leaders. However, you must live with your Bible close to you for enduring success.

CHALLENGE: Obedience to God makes success easy.
PRAYER: Help me to obey you Lord, like Abraham.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
