DCLM Sincere Milk 22 April 2024 — Obey God Always
DCLM Sincere Milk 22 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Obey God Always
Topic: Obey God Always
Text: Acts 5:25-29
26Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
29Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Key Verse: “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29
Message
A chorus we often sing in the church goes thus; “Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe. Doing exactly as the Lord commands, doing it heartily. Walking in the light, with the attitude right on the narrow way. Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe!”
Many children sing this chorus joyfully clapping their hands, but not many do what it says. Jesus Christ showed His disciples the way to God’s kingdom and He went about with them still preaching God’s kingdom to sinners. When it was time for Him to return to heaven, He commanded His disciples to continue preaching the gospel. The command has been passed to us in our own generation. Peter and the other disciples obeyed Jesus’ command and several times they were rejected and imprisoned.

In the night an angel of God opened the prison doors and the apostles went out to still preach the gospel. They were fearless. That is who Christ wants you to be – a fearless preacher of the gospel. As you obey, God will protect you from all harm and many sinners will come to Christ.

Prayer for today: Lord, please give me the boldness that will help me obey You always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
