DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Omniscient God

TOPIC: Omniscient God (DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2022)

TEXT: Psalm 10:1-11 (KJV)

10 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.

4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

KEY VERSE: “Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1).

MESSAGE:

The wicked, steeped in his ignorance, sin and pride, is unaware that the Lord is not in hiding, but rather sitting atop the affairs of man and his environment. Just as earthlings do not perceive the great movement of their planet, so are the wicked unconscious that God is fully in charge of the world and its activities.

In His wisdom, God allows life and nature to continue their normal course. He sees the cruelty of evil people against the innocent. He also hears the complaints of the latter, who wonders whether the Lord is hiding Himself “in times of trouble”. Be assured that God still cares. He will intervene in your situation.

Increasingly, the world is given to the idolatry of technological advances, wealth and lust, and becoming more and more atheistic. People reason that it does not add up to crave for an “abundant life” hereafter when you already have a pleasurable and high life here on earth. They are governed by materialism, which will not last because there is an appointed time for the Lord to step in to redress things. He will defend His people and fulfil His plan.

As it is characteristic with the Lord, He will always laugh last in His ways with man. He will judge the unrepentant who shun His salvation plan. He will make good His promise to “punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity…” (Isaiah 13:11). Only those who repent genuinely before the judgment day will escape His wrath. The moment to do so is now – time is running out.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No hiding place for the wicked.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
